Panadol is toxic!

It has become a norm: when people are sick, they take panadol/ paracetamol. They feel better after taking panadol, most often, not because panadol heals them, but panadols reduces the pain sensation in them, brings down their high body temperature & thus most people feel relieved.

But do you know that giving a 500mg panadol to a 5kg dog/cat can kill your pet? Unlike human, cats & dogs lack certain enzymes in the liver, & thus are not able to sufficiently metabolize the drug, resulting in poisoning.

Panadol-poisoned dogs/cats may become quiet, breathe faster, face become swollen or the gums swollen & brown-blue in colour. When you see these signs, bring them to the vet immediately, & inform the vet how much of panadol you have given to the pet.

The sooner the pet gets the appropriate treatment, the higher the chances of survival.

hello!!

im so sorry but i just fed my kitten panadol! that's how my grandma did it in the past! my kitten (arnd 3 weeks old) had looked quite sick and i did not know what to do. i dissolved the panadol(for kids) in warm water and mixed it with sugars. fortunately the kitten just ate a little.

well it's asleep now but im still very worried. it has been quite cold and it's hardly moving. we tried wrapping it and keeping it warm. do you have any suggestions?

please help me and reply to loh.jingying@hotmail.com.

thanks very much!
rgds, jingying.
